DreamScene is an Extra only available (from Microsoft) for Vista Ultimate users.
Deskscapes (from Stardock) require DreamScene

So no, it doesn't appear that there will be a non-Ultimate version.

ultimately, that kind of sucks. It would appear that people should then really focus on purchasing the Vista Ultimate version if they're thinking of going Vista. The other versions seem to have too many limitations or aren't as feature rich, you'll end up kicking yourself if you saved a few bucks going with a cheaper version of vista and then realize you should have just stayed with XP if you weren't going to purchase Ultimate.

Most of the versions of Vista target a very real market. Would Vista fit ALL of the?  Of cousre it would . . but do all users want to pay for features they wouldn't use?

So in the end those of us tyring to save money will not be able to ever have what we want.

saving money and getting what you want don't always go toghether.

Become a master skinner, sell your skins, get money, buy more stuff.

That's generally how it works.  You pay for the features you need and actually want.  Anything beyond that obviously isn't important enough to you.

I can't buy a used Ford Pinto, in an effort to save money, and then ask to be given a Porche instead.

Actually your asking for a whole new car. I am just asking for a program to get dreams to work on my copy of vista enterprise. So you may want to sound system from the porche in your pinto. But at least you can install the same system in your pinto. THis is the same issue. Why won't they make it compatible for all versions. Or at least a third party software.. *winks as stardock.

Yeah, that's a good idea . . subvert the goal of your partner.  Brilliant!

Because Microsoft wants you to buy Ultimate.
